Why Simple Observability?
Netdata is an incredible piece of engineering. If the goal is per-second granularity and thousands of metrics per server to debug a deep performance bottleneck, it is a fantastic tool.
But this level of granularity comes at a cost. The price is paid in resource overhead. It requires running a surprisingly heavy web stack and database on every single node. The cost is also paid in time, spent sifting through hundreds of overwhelming charts just to figure out what actually broke.
Simple Observability is a complete operational suite. It was built to avoid drowning users in raw, isolated data. It reveals the broader operational picture right out of the box. Lightweight server health, centralized logs, cron job execution, and other essential capabilities all flow into a single, clean dashboard.
A standalone engine versus a full infrastructure OS. Netdata is an incredibly deep, standalone metrics engine. Simple Observability integrates those core server metrics into a broader infrastructure OS. The platform relies on pre-configured defaults to answer the questions that actually matter. Is the server up? Is the application healthy? Did the scheduled tasks run? The result is zero manual setup and zero alert fatigue.
