PagerDuty

You can connect PagerDuty to Simple Observability to forward alerts directly into your incident management workflow. This ensures that your team responds quickly without needing to monitor multiple dashboards.

PagerDuty + Simple Observability integration benefits

  • Notify your team based on alerts sent from Simple Observability.
  • Send enriched event data, including the actual metrics and threshold that triggered the event.
  • Incidents will automatically resolve in PagerDuty when the metric in Simple Observability returns to normal.

How it works

  • Simple Observability alerts trigger a new incident on the corresponding PagerDuty service.
  • Once the metric returns to its designated range, Simple Observability sends a resolve event to the PagerDuty service, automatically resolving the incident.

Integration walkthrough

Connecting PagerDuty

  1. In your Simple Observability account, navigate to the Channels page.
  2. In the top right corner, click the Add Channel button.
  3. From the list of channel types, select PagerDuty.
  4. Click Connect to PagerDuty.
  5. You will be redirected to PagerDuty to approve the integration. Simple Observability requests access only to create an integration key for your services.
  6. Select the PagerDuty service you want to connect for this channel.

Warning

Even if you select multiple services during the integration process, only the first service is used. If you need to send alerts to more than one service, create a separate channel for each service. You can then link a rule to multiple channels.

Sending a test alert

To verify the integration, click the Test button after creating the channel.

The test sends a change event to the connected service, not a real incident. This confirms the connection works without triggering unnecessary alerts for your on-call team.

How to uninstall

To remove the PagerDuty integration, delete the associated channel within your Simple Observability account. Deleting the channel automatically removes the integration key and permanently revokes access to the PagerDuty service.
